#1 Mote of Water Farming Spot – Levels 62+

Here is a tip to let you know the best place in the game (that I know about) to farm Motes of Water (WowEcon | Wowhead). This is good for characters levels 62 and up!

My #1 Mote of Fire Farming Spot – Level 67+

mote-air-grinding

As with every type of mote in Burning Crusade, there are several spots to farm Motes of Fire (WowEcon | Wowhead). My personal favorite spot is located in north-central Blade’s Edge Mountains (Wowhead | WowWiki).

This spot is similar in many ways to my favorite Mote of Air farm – that is, there are many elementals of one type which are pretty easy and respawn quick, but have annoying mobs mixed in to slow down your mote harvesting. Farming spots like these will still net you more motes than anywhere else – including Elemental Plateau (in my opinion).

Get to Elemental Plateau with no flying mount

NERFED:

UPDATE: Blizzard nerfed wall jumping in general with patch 2.4 much to the woe of many players. While I have been told that wall jumping is still possible, it is so difficult that you will probably want to skip this one. If you do decide to try this post-2.4, leave a comment and let us know how it went!

So everybody knows Elemental Plateau is only accessible with a flying mount. Which leaves out the all the level 68+ players who could possibly handle these mobs, not to mention the newly-minted level 70s who do not yet have their flyers. There is, however, a “backdoor” so to speak.

Primal Mana Bonanza in Patch 2.4 – Level 70

Blade's Edge Mountains

It’s to be expected that once a patch is released there will be slightly unbalanced elements – and taking advantage of them is often the path to riches for many a savvy player.

Among the plethora of new daily quests given to us by Patch 2.4 there is one in particular that will allow you to farm, at this point, literally a hundred Motes of Mana (WowEcon | Wowhead) an hour. Which of course nets you a solid number of Primals of Mana.

Make 400+ gold in a few minutes as a Jewelcrafter

NERFED:

UPDATE: This has been nerfed! Now this design is BoP – oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

With Patch 2.3 Blizzard gave WoW a lot of love. Between the XP boost and Dustwallow Marsh (Wowhead | WowWiki) getting a whole new town full of goblin quests, it’s been a great update to the game. Also released in Patch 2.3 was the awesome blue gem Chaotic Skyfire Diamond. Meant to help casting classes pwn, it adds +12 Spell Critical as well as 3% increased Critical Damage.

Making Gold with Glowcaps and Sporeggar

A really good place to earn some extra gold while you’re leveling up past 62 is in the Sporeggar (Wowhead | WowWiki) settlement in Zangarmarsh (Wowhead | WowWiki). The Sporeggar use Glowcaps (WowEcon | Wowhead) as currency for faction rewards and you can find them all over the west side of that zone.

Glowcap Mushroom in Zangarmarsh

If you have not already leveled up your reputation with the Sporeggar faction, you will be able to turn 10 Glowcaps in at a time to Msshi’fn until you reach friendly status. I recommend using a different method to gain reputation after the first 10, however, because these are so valuable later. Fertile Spores is a good way to go for neutral-to-friendly.

Recipe: Flask of Chromatic Wonder

I was just clued-in to a non-BOP recipe released with Patch 2.2 that is selling like … uh, something that sells really fast and for a lot of gold on the auction house.

The Recipe: Flask of Chromatic Wonder is so new, a lot of the databases don’t have it linked to it’s seller or have it listed at all yet. From what I hear, this is hella popular with DPS Druids and they are emptying out their banks to get it.

Best Spot to Farm Cobra Scales – Level 70

If you are a Skinner and/or a Leatherworker in the Burning Crusade you probably already know all about Cobra Scales (WowEcon | Wowhead).

Cobra Scale Farming Loc

Gained by skinning one of three types of snakes on the shattered planet of Draenor, these go into crafting some really awesome gear for both Rogues and Druids.

But what you may not know is there is a really awesome spot to grind these … on yellow mobs! If you know me, you know I love grinding yellow mobs – you can rest inches away from them, you can answer the door without fear of drawing aggro, not to mention you never have to worry about adds – there are a multitude of reasons why grinding yellow, non-aggroable mobs is superior to the normal red mobs.

Spider Silk Farming Guide

Today I would like to discuss in-depth an often overlooked trade item that has the potential to earn you loads of gold whether you are level 20 or level 70: Spider Silk.

Spiders in WoW

That’s right, spider silk. This trade item is a vital component to some of the coolest crafted items in Azeroth or Draenor and is useful particularly for Tailoring, Leatherworking and Engineering. Plus, so many players either fail to loot it or vendor it off as trash, it is often worth a lot more than it probably should be on the auction house.

Grinding Motes of Water – Levels 64+

By now most players know that the best place to farm for Motes of Water (WowEcon | Wowhead) at level 70 is in Nagrand (Wowhead | WowWiki), which is why Elemental Plateau is so camped. But not many know that most of those Motes of Water you see in the Auction House do not come from Elemental Plateau – they come from level 64-66 mobs in central Nagrand.

Mote of Air Farming Location – Levels 67+

mote-air-grinding

Ah, the neverending quest for motes Burning Crusade has brought us. Sometimes fun, sometimes a pain, but always an adventure, Blizzard has fortunately graced players with relatively high drop rates for these items. So it really isn’t hard to farm many in a short period. But seasoned WoW players know that drop rates are only part of the story when figuring out the best places to grind motes for WoW gold.

I just found out about a great spot to farm Motes of Air (WowEcon | Wowhead). It’s located in Shadowmoon Valley (Wowhead | WowWiki) north of the Altar of Sha’tar and just to the west east of Oronok Tornheart’s farm.

Farming Mechanar Chests Solo as a Rogue

NERFED:

August 25, 2007 – a day that will live in infamy for all WoW rogues, lol. As you have heard or found out yourself, this strategy has been nerfed with Patch 2.2, so it is no longer viable as written here.

Rogues have long known one of the secret paths to thousands of WoW gold is through instance chests. These chests almost always drop great loot and sometimes even better loot than bosses in the instance. I’m not going to try to tell you Rogues are the best class to farm gold with (I would say Mages have that distinction), but given the Rogue lockpick ability and the lucrative chests instances contain, it does make them the best class to solo instances with.

Aldor Rep and Gold Farming Spot – Netherstorm, Level 70

UPDATED 5/30/2008: This is still a great place to farm for those choosing to become Aldor and another solid location for leatherworkers, but sadly the two mobs here no longer drop Motes of Shadow. Despite the claim by some that the drop rate for Marks and Fel Armaments has been nerfed, I have not found that to be entirely true. Though the Wowhead drop rates have changed since I first wrote this, I decided to leave them because I feel the originals are still more accurate than the current data or the negative word-of-mouth.

Whether you are looking to rapidly advance your reputation with the Aldor or just make some decent gold, you should try the Arklon Ruins (42,71) located southeast of Area 52 in Netherstorm (Wowhead | WowWiki). This is a must-grind area for those looking to gain reputation with the Aldor, but is also a sweet spot to farm gold and leatherworking items.

Mote of Mana Farming – Netherstorm Level 67+

Since Burning Crusade people have been going mote crazy. And why not? Ten motes of any given element will produce a primal of that element. And if you have played the Burning Crusade and do any kind of crafting at all, you know that there are tons of recipes in all the professions which require primals (for example the shamantastic Living Dragonscale Helm).

In the Best WoW Gold Guide we’ve already covered some great (and would-be great) spots to farm motes. We’ve also established that people will pay good gold for them on the auction house. So now I want to clue you in on a great tucked-away spot to farm Motes of Mana.

Farming Motes on Elemental Plateau – Level 70

Flight over Nagrand

This post updated on: April 21, 2008

The undead rogue looks up from his meal – a Scarlet Crusade warrior who didn’t know when not to attack – at the menacing fortress of Tyr’s Hand. “This place is virtually deserted of both Alliance and Horde champions,” he thought while sucking out the marrow of the unfortunate cultist’s left femur. “This place used to be nothing but female Night Elf Hunters as far as the eye could see, but now? Where have they all gone?”

Have you ever wondered where exactly it is all the gold farmers are hanging out these days?

There’s no question that since the Burning Crusade release the volume of gold you can earn in the Outlands simply by grinding makes all the old gold farming techniques in Azeroth look like so much weak-sauce. Let’s face it, if time is gold then travelling in World of Warcraft is one of the most expensive endeavors in the game.
