Remote Auction House Beta

Recently, Blizzard announced the beta test for a new premium service they will be unveiling soon on the WoW Armory: web-based Auction House transactions!

What does this mean?

Well, aside from the convenience of being able to view and create your auctions while not in the actual World of Warcraft game, currently you can use the Neutral Auction Houses even if you have bad reputation with the Steam Wheedle Cartel. So now you have a bit more leeway if you really want to gain reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers.

And whether or not you have a bad rep with the Steam Wheedle Cartel, having access to the WoW Auction House will really allow you to step up your Auctioneer game. Of course, to really step up your Auction House game, I suggest reading the excellent WoW Auction Mastery Guide.

Manipulating the Neutral Auction Houses on PVE realms

Booty Bay

It seems like most WoW players rarely use the faction-neutral Goblin auction houses, perhaps largely because the high fees associated with selling items and that most items are available in each faction’s auction house. Why bother?

Many players on Regular and RP servers know what the purpose of the Goblin auction houses are, however – transferring gold and items to your cross-faction characters. Because you are allowed to have both Horde and Alliance characters on non-PVP realms, it’s an easy way to deck out your new toon when if you decide to roll an alt that doesn’t share your main’s faction.

Blood Elf Bandit Masks

Since the first 10-19 Warsong Gulch Bracket was introduced in 2005, twinking low-level alts has become one of the favorite past-times of advanced WoW players around the world. There are many different items to equip to your level 19 twink and enchants galore to turn your feeble little rogue into a hardened, death-dealing machine.

Spider Silk Farming Guide

Today I would like to discuss in-depth an often overlooked trade item that has the potential to earn you loads of gold whether you are level 20 or level 70: Spider Silk.

Spiders in WoW

That’s right, spider silk. This trade item is a vital component to some of the coolest crafted items in Azeroth or Draenor and is useful particularly for Tailoring, Leatherworking and Engineering. Plus, so many players either fail to loot it or vendor it off as trash, it is often worth a lot more than it probably should be on the auction house.

So you say you’re looking for a way to game the trade items market in your realm? Think you have what it takes to make a truck-load of gold, and you’re willing to step all over everyone else to do it? Then you might be interested in the tip below.

Start by doing a bit of research on WowEcon and with your own Auctioneer data to find an trade item you want to focus on. At first focus on one item, but if you are successful – and if you aren’t blacklisted by everyone else – later on you can focus on two or three items.

Aldor Rep and Gold Farming Spot – Netherstorm, Level 70

UPDATED 5/30/2008: This is still a great place to farm for those choosing to become Aldor and another solid location for leatherworkers, but sadly the two mobs here no longer drop Motes of Shadow. Despite the claim by some that the drop rate for Marks and Fel Armaments has been nerfed, I have not found that to be entirely true. Though the Wowhead drop rates have changed since I first wrote this, I decided to leave them because I feel the originals are still more accurate than the current data or the negative word-of-mouth.

Whether you are looking to rapidly advance your reputation with the Aldor or just make some decent gold, you should try the Arklon Ruins (42,71) located southeast of Area 52 in Netherstorm (Wowhead | WowWiki). This is a must-grind area for those looking to gain reputation with the Aldor, but is also a sweet spot to farm gold and leatherworking items.

Outrageous Amounts of Gold Per Hour! Levels 60+

There’s no question that since the Burning Crusade release the volume of gold you can earn in the Outlands simply by grinding makes all the old gold farming techniques in Azeroth look like so much weak-sauce. But with the thousands and thousands of new gold pieces in circulation, you can still use some of those old techniques to earn MASSIVE amounts of gold.

Don’t Drop Those Grays!

Today I was being lazy, just hanging around the Undercity sorting out my bank and whatnot. A new player asked in general for some general tips about how to make more money in WoW, and someone actually made a reply that he (or she) throw out all of their gray items to make room for the green items they pick up.

Grind Scryer Reputation for Gold at Level 67+

Blade's Edge Mountains

UPDATED: 5/7/2008
Scryer reputation tokens are still selling for a lot in most realms’ Auction Houses. According to WowEcon, Sunfury Signets (WowEcon | Wowhead) sell for about one gold a piece and Arcane Tomes (WowEcon | Wowhead) top out around 12-14 gold per item.

Wag the Auctioneer

Last night I found myself a bit short on cash (yes, it happens!), so I decided to revisit a time-honored tradition of WoW Auctioneers everywhere: selling items from the auction house that you don’t own yet.

This tactic involves using the search capabilities of Norganna’s Auctioneer Addon to find undervalued blue and purple items, then “selling” them at an increased rate over the Trade channel.

Auctioneer

If you ask a lot of WoW players what the hands-down best WoW UI add-on is, I can guarantee you most are going respond simply “Auctioneer.” And those same Wow players are today rejoicing because the bulk of the 2.0-patch fixes have finally been hammered out and the Auctioneer gamma version has been released.

Felcloth FTW

Felcloth is a fairly rare dropped trade item used for making, among other things, Wicked Leather Armor, Felcloth Bags, and joy of joys – Runed Stygian cloth armor pieces.

It’s important to us because it goes for quite a pretty copper at your faction’s Auction House – currently 4 gold per felcloth on my server’s Orgrimmar bank – and that’s the lowball price.
